Ellen Yuna Ahn is a Korean-Canadian filmmaker based in Toronto. She holds a BA in Directing from Drama Centre London / Central Saint Martins (2018) and a diploma in Performance Art and Design from Central Saint Martins (2015). Since then, she has worked in both London, UK, and Toronto in production, editing, and directing.
In 2024, she was a part of Reel Asian's Unsung Voices Cohort 13. Her short film Reunion was screened at the Reel Asian International Film Festival in 2024, where it won the award for Best Cinematography, and at the Itaewon Film Festival in 2025.
Her work often explores themes of aging, the afterlife, faith, and the meaning we place on life and death in a spiritually fragmented world. In her directing, she strives to tell stories that hold the tensions between tragedy and hope, not wishing to emphasize one over the other. She believes that honest reflection is found in the acknowledgment of difficult moments, which give way to a deeper understanding of herself and those around her.
She is currently in production for her next short film THE UNSEENS and is developing her first feature film CUMBIA SOLA.
